ComBioTES Reaches New Milestone: MUSIC Prototype Ready for Testing

The ComBioTES project is proud to announce the successful completion of a major development phase: the manufacturing of the MUSIC prototype, a compact Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system designed for hot tap water and space heating using bio-based Phase Change Material (PCM).

Prototype Progress: From Grenoble to DTU

Following its manufacturing by Delaunay, the prototype was delivered to our project partner CEA in Grenoble for PCM filling, electrical wiring, and commissioning. With this phase now complete, the system is on its way to DTU’s demonstration site for the next major milestone: live testing of the full system solution, including the Energy Management System (EMS) developed in WP4.

Next Stop: Testing at DTU

Once commissioning is complete, the prototype will be shipped to the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where it will be tested under real-life conditions in a demo site. These tests will evaluate the full system solution, including integration with the Energy Management System (EMS) algorithm developed in Work Package 4 (WP4).

This milestone represents a significant step toward demonstrating the feasibility and impact of bio-based TES systems in achieving Europe’s energy and climate goals.

Stay tuned for our next update as we move into the testing phase!
